Update | Living In My Own Skin

A few months ago I spoke about coming to terms with having psoriasis. However honey, 12 weeks have passed and I thought it was high time we did a check up.
Before lockdown was imposed I was having a NIGHTMARE with my skin. My psoriasis had flared up and I couldn't get on top of it. I wasn't happy with the way I looked, which meant my confidence took a massive blow... which was a big issue for me as I am all about confidence... can I get an amen!
Now Edinburgh has been blessed and highly favoured recently with a spell of good weather, and it has been working wonders on my skin. But y'all know how much Vitamin D is good for you, y'all don't need me telling you that.
Being able to spend more time engaging with what was going into my body: really focusing on what I ate, cutting down on the alcohol and not being able to binge on some decent coffee - began to show when the redness of my psoriasis started to go down.
I then began to focus on my skincare products and began the search for products, more specifically ingredients in products, that would combat my psoriasis, taking my skin from dry and flakey to soft and supple.
The first ingredient was eucalyptus oil. Eucalyptus oil is an essential oil that comes with many benefits from being able to freshen breath (some mouthwashes and toothpastes contain it as an active ingredient), but also helps to reduce and calm inflammation. Eucalyptus oil has been incredible to help with the redness and itchiness whenever my psoriasis flares up.
The second was Colostrum (yep honey, y'all heard me right, the breast milk from a cow). Many proponents say that the secretion contains a natural balance of hormones, amino acids, vitamins and minerals that can dramatically improve the appearance of your skin. A New York dermatologist, Dr. Joshua Zeicher, said that Colostrum is high in elements that can repair the skin and promote the collagen.
Both of these ingredients have been ah-mazing at helping treat my psoriasis, providing me with the little confidence boost I needed - KD
