The Sunday Afternoon Tradition That Completes My Week

Good afternoon and happy Friday y'all, I hope you have all had a lovely week, despite everything that is going on in the world.

Recently I have been spending my Sunday's pretty much the same way now, with a nice clean of the apartment, a big roast dinner followed by a relaxing evening with a glass of wine and a good book before an early night and for me this has been the perfect way to round off the week.

Sunday has always been my day for doing a big clean of the apartment. I really enjoy getting all the rooms squeaky clean and love waking up on the Monday morning, in fresh bed sheets before having my morning coffee at the windowsill of my spotless flat.

But my Sunday's aren't only reserved for deep cleaning the apartment, and my the final day of the week would not be complete without spending some time in the kitchen. I love food but I have never considered myself a foodie. Sure, I love to cook, I love to dine out and I love to entertain, yet I do not consider myself a food expert. Rather I just love food. I think this is because food is so central to one of the five senses - taste - and is linked so many of our memories.

I enjoy everything about the process, from the grocery shop, the prepping of veg to the roasting of the meat. I love it all so much that it quickly became an integral part of my Sunday routine, one of which I have found so comforting.

One of the things I most love about food is that you can experience it almost anywhere, anytime and it will bring back those memories which you love. Living by myself, especially just now, my Sunday roast reminds me of those special times when I enjoyed it with family when I was younger, or when I have been entertaining friends - one night in particular being my 2019 Holiday party which I will never forget.

There is just something about it that feels like the perfect way to round out each week on a Sunday afternoon or evening and although it may be a while before I can entertain friends (giving me enough time to perfect my roast) I will cherish the memories this tradition reminds me of and can't wait to create more.

Do you have any food memories or routines that make you smile? I'd love to hear - KD
