Well hey y'all,
When it comes to Spring/Summer trends, I admit I haven't really paid much attention this year (most likely due to the current situation). Instead, I've found myself reaching for a fail safe classic, the chino. Now honey I don't think I have worn a pair of chinos since High School, but with having to stay in the house I was eager to find a way to get "properly" dressed but still be comfortable at the same time. I weighed up the options and chinos were the clear winner.
10 times comfier than jeans for around the house, here are five ways to style the menswear staple that you can easily covert from quarantine comfy to normal life once lockdown is lifted.
Now babes, you don't need me to tell you that stone chinos and a white crew neck go hand in hand. This super simple, dependable combo is low effort but stylish nonetheless. Throw on a a pair of trainers and a denim jacket to break up the neutrals, and you've got yourself a wearable day to day outfit.
Anyone got a case of the blues? Turns out that isn't such a bad thing doll. The World's Favourite Colour study in 2019 by G.F. Smith polled people from 100 countries and found that navy is the most relaxing colour worldwide. With that in mind this all navy fit is perfect for those chill days. Pair these navy chinos with a lightweight shirt for a relaxed but fashionable quarantine style, adding a pair of white trainers or brown leather loafers to transfer it to an everyday look.
If y'all know me, you know I love a denim shirt. Complimenting the stone chinos, a light denim shirt is the ideal way to get your denim fix in lockdown without sacrificing comfort. Couple this look with a pair of brown brogues and a Harrington jacket for that relaxed day-to-day vibe.
Pink clothing is a men's must have for Spring. Pink pairs well with most colours and is extremely versatile, as long as you pick a hue that suits your skin tone. For paler skin a stronger, deeper tone works best. A pale or pastel pink complements a post-holiday glow or those with darker skin. The dark navy of the chinos works brilliantly with the lighter pink shades on the top, giving you a laid back but trendy quarantine life outfit. For a post-lockdown fit, keep it casual with a trainer in a lighter hue, or style it up with a blazer and a pair of tobacco leather oxford shoes for a touch of refinement honey.
Whether it is plain or patterned, linen is a necessity in any wardrobe. The stone chinos and this terracotta wrap shirt pair perfectly for a lightweight, comfortable lockdown outfit. Add some white trainers and a denim jacket to transfer from quarantine to normality.
How would you style up your chinos? Let me know in the comments. Stay safe - KD
