3 Shows, 3 Platforms | What I've Enjoyed Watching

Happy Friday cuties, hope y'all had a great week. Seeing as we are spending a lot more time at home just now with no knowing when lockdown may end in the UK, I think it is safe to say we have all been watching a bit more TV. With so many different streaming services and content providers it can be a bit overwhelming trying to find something to watch. With that in mind here is a few shows across 3 different platforms that I have enjoyed recently.

The Morning Show

Apple's first foray into original programming, The Morning Show explores the cutthroat world of morning news and the lives of the people who help America wake up. Beginning with a sexual misconduct scandal, The Morning Show deals with the immediate fallout and how the staff cope in its wake. Although the series was picked up before the #MeToo movement took off, the producers quickly changed the script to reflect what was happening in the world. Although at certain points it does fall victim to cliche's, The Morning Show is high camp, and I as a viewer loved watching the absurdity of this show.

This Is Us

Ok, I may be a little late to this one as it did premiere in 2016 however, This Is Us has received critical acclaim from critics with an average of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. With five seasons, focusing on three siblings who each go through unique personal struggles at different times of their lives as they try to overcome a tragedy in their past, This Is Us has made me laugh and cry in a way only Grey's Anatomy has achieved.

The Queen's Gambit

Moving swiftly on to the immensely popular Netflix show, The Queen's Gambit, which made its way onto my watchlist due to the amount of people raving about it. Never would I have thought that a show revolving around chess would have captured both mine and the worlds interest. In fact public interest in the game of chess has increased since its premiere. The Queen's Gambit also became Netflix's most watched scripted series after four weeks with 62 million accounts tuning in. A coming-of-age period drama focusing on the story of Beth Harmon on her rise to the top of the chess world, The Queen's Gambit had me hooked through its seven episodes.
